Welcome to the Summer Term!
The Ancient Egyptians
This term we shall learn all about ancient Egypt and the River Nile and how this river was crucial to the development of such an awe-inspiring civilisation. We shall also be looking at the process of mummification and the Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife. We shall study why the pyramids were so important to the Egyptians and how and why they built them. We will of course be exploring the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb in 1922 which led to so many theories surrounding his suspicious death.
We shall do this with the help of different types of texts and we shall be writing our own exciting Egyptian stories, instructions and explanations along the way. We shall also be creating our very own mask of Tutankhamen using lots of different materials which is an awful lot of fun. Just ask last year's Class 5!
I'm sure we'll have a great time and I know parents will be amazed by information their children come home with.
