Seventh Station:
Jesus falls for a second time by Matthew W and Tom H
Not mentioned in any of the gospels
How we painted the picture:
First we started with the sky: We had white paint then we gradually added red until we got to the bottom which was dark red. Then we did the cross we painted it brown.
We then did the grass which was a pretty small job.
After that we did the skin, Jesus’ was dark brown and Mary’s was light brown. Next we did their hair; Jesus’ was very dark brown and Mary’s was a darkish red.
After that we did the clothes: Mary’s dress was blue with a black collar, Jesus’ had a red robe with creamy sleeves.
Then we did the sun which was orange. After that we did the dove (which is a sign for peace) which we painted grey. Finally we did the lilies (which was the sign for purity). We painted the stalk green, the flower white and the inside yellow.
How we tried to copy the Pre-Raphaelites: we based our painting on this picture which is Elizabeth Siddal. We used the long red hair on our painting. We also used rosebud lips. We started the picture by sketching everything in it took a few goes to get it right.

Dante Gabriel Rossetti Beata Beatrix is a portrait of Rossetti’s dead wife, Elizabeth Siddal. Once again the subject comes from Dante’s Vita Nuova, and shows the mystical translation of Beatrice from earth to heaven. On the right stands Dante, staring across to the Angel of Love. Beatrice sits beside a sundial on which the shadow falls on nine, the hour of her death on 9 June 1290. A red bird, the messenger of death, drops a poppy, the symbol of sleep, into her folded hands.
