Fourth Station: Jesus meets his mother by Charlotte and Clara

This Painting is not mentioned in the gospels.

How we painted the picture:

We started of our painting by sketching it with different pencils The people you see in our painting are Jesus and Mary, his mother. The two symbols in it are the dove and the lily. The lily represents purity and the dove represents peace.

After we had finished sketching the picture we started to mix some colours. We had an idea of what colours we wanted so we got them. First we painted the sun and the sky then we moved on to the grass. When that had dried we moved on to the more detailed bits.

How we tried to copy some of the techniques used by the Pre-Raphaelite artists:

We based our Mary on Alexa Wilding, a Pre-Raphaelite stunner. We copied some of her features and the style of her hair. It was hard work trying to get the right colour of her hair because we wanted her hair to be a brownie, reddy colour, because that was what Pre-Raphaelite artists liked.

Below is a sketch of Alexa Wilding by Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
