The Feast Of The Pass Over.

Every one looked so weird, with head dresses and bath robes. I felt really weird because the only head dress I could find was an exotic skin one with tassels, and a veil for a robe.
I was really thirsty even before we started, and we were only allowed to drink at toasts and the main meal, so I had to wait through about six speeches or blessings, ect, ect, ect, before I could even take a sip.

After we had eaten the parsley, (dipped in salt water, yuck!), someone began the speech that I was saying part of, my voice sort of caught in my throat and I was afraid I’d do something wrong, but, (to my utter relief) it went very smoothly.
The second thing to eat, after the parsley, was the pitter bread, or, as the Jews called it, unleavened bread.
Our table, me, Lucy, Charlotte, Poppy, Lauren and Bex, (Rebecca, we call her Bex,) had brought two packets of pitta between us. Now, I love pitta bread, so you can imagine how pleased I was when I got two pieces!
Next was the actual meal, so we got even more pitta bread, lamb, (I love lamb,) grape juice salad and even more parsley!

Poppy is the youngest girl, so she got to go to the door and look for Elijah. Let me explain, every year the Jews hope that Elijah, a great prophet in the Old Testament, would come to their house to announce the coming of the Messiah, so they fill a cup to overflowing and leave it for him, traditionally, nobody drinks it, so it must go stale after a while!
Then the youngest girl goes to the door and looks for him, as far as we know, he never has come.
Lastly, everyone sticks their cups in the air and bellows, "Next Year in Jerusalem."
So now you know what happened at our Feast Of The Pass Over, even though were not Jewish, and we believe that the Messiah has already come, its still very interesting to se what other faiths get up to.
