At St Martin’s school in Scarborough, Wednesday 11th February, The Feast Of The Passover took place in the hall. The purpose of this was so that the year six pupils could understand what it was like.

Father Tony was the leader the informal feast. There were prayers and readings fromThe Bible read by the children and Father Tony. The meal included: a leg of lamb, pitta bread, Haroseth (a mixture of stewed apples, raisins, almonds and wine or grape juice), lettuce, parsley with salt water, horseradish sauce and grape juice. There where five toasts and during the last one my friend spilt his cup over the table and started to mop it up with his cloak!

We had to dress up in Jewish style clothes like a dressing gown and a tea towel around the head, we could also bring a travelling stick.

At one point in the ceremony we had to make sandwich out of the pitta bread and other dishes of the meal, then give it to a friend or loved one. Harrison and Tyler made one up and added a lot of horseradish then gave it to Lauren, she ran out to wash the taste away and knocked over her drink in the process!

The youngest person in the hall (Poppy) had to look out of the door and see if Elijah there, but of course he wasn’t. Most, if not all of the class had a great time and it is recommended for everyone.
