Jan Brittain: Foundation Teacher
I began my teaching career in 1984 as a mature student completing a PGCE course, having previously gained a degree in Biology at York University, and from there gained a position at St Martin’s C.E. primary school.
I have been teaching there for 18 years, initially in a mixed year 1/Reception class, but for a number of years now as the Early Years Co-ordinator with the Reception age group.
I decided to change my profession from Pathology Laboratory Technician to teaching when my 2 children were of school age; they are now 23 and 25. My main hobby away from school is amateur dramatics.
