School Child Care Provision

I'm sorry that it was not possible to set childcare provision up for this week - I needed more returned questionnaires to make the project viable. The morning session has few takers and we will run it until half term to see if it will pay its way. Children can be dropped off at 08.00 to the School Hall ( you can use the 'dropping off zone' in our carpark) and the children will be supervised until 08.45 when they will be escorted outside to join their friends. The cost will be £2 a day, payable a week in advance, in order that we can ensure adequate supervision and supplies. Breakfast will be available at extra cost. The afternoon session will run from 15.15 until 17.15. It will be held in the Unit extension area at a cost of £3 a session, payable a week in advance, and a snack will be provided. It's essential that children are picked up on time as the supervisors will need to clear the area in readiness for the next school day and we may have to impose a further cost if we find that children are collected late on a regular basis. This is a non-profit making venture which we have set up to help you out on a temporary basis, hence the low cost. Our intention has always been (and still is) to establish a permanent stand-alone Out of School Club, which would include Breakfast Club, After School care and Holiday Club. Their costs will naturally be higher than the temporary arrangement. This facility will be available from next Monday, 21st April. A letter and sign up form are ready for you to collect from the School Office.

Staffing Arrangements for the Next School Year

2008-2009 will be one of the rare periods of change in staffing for our School. Mrs. Tingay has decided that this will be the year in which she retires. Miss Clarke will also be retiring before September! We will miss these long experienced teachers very much and wish them every happiness in retirement. The staffing arrangements for September are as follows:
Class 5-Mr. Duncan
Class 4- Mrs. Simpson and Mrs. Willshaw.
We will advertise for a Year 6 teacher for Class 1, Miss Peat will become full time again and will teach either Class 2 or 3 with Mr. Grassam. Infant staffing arrangements will remain as they are.

St. George's Day Lunch

Mrs. Patrick, School Cook, has asked that you be informed that she is making a special lunch on 23rd April in honour of our Patron Saint. The menu includes Meat and Potato Pie, vegetables and St. George's Iced Sponge. You can buy into the School meal for just one day at a cost of £1.80, payable in advance.

School Photographs

Tempest will be in School on Tuesday and Wednesday, 29th and 30th April to photograph all the children. They now photograph everyone individually and also all family groupings and invite families to take all, some or none of the photos. Families that include pre school age children will be shot on Wednesday morning.

Interested in Piano Lessons in School Time?

We have been approached by a qualified teacher of music who is available to teach piano and keyboard skills during the School day. The lady lives locally and is tutoring one of our pupils at present. We could organise this service if there was sufficient interest. I am not sure what the cost would be but I will find out.

Finally…we have a pair of Geox sports shoes in Lucy Bin. They look new and have been in there for some time. If your son has reported he's 'lost' his, I'd be grateful if you could collect them from the Office
